Do you ever wonder where the day went? Did you finish what you started? Did you get done what needed to be done?
Do you ever stand in the grocery line up thinking that the person in front of you looks like they have it all together? The kids are dressed for soccer practice and getting along, the groceries are all stacked and loaded nicely and everyone is happy. Mom looks like she just left yoga practice or the beauty salon. Do you ever wonder how do people get it all done?
I know exactly how you feel. There are some days that I wish we had 30 hours in a day so I could just get everything done. Other days I wish I could just read a good book and take a nap.
First stop comparing and questioning. You are amazingly unique and you are you. Every family functions to their own well tuned system. Some are more efficient than others. Trust me that person in front of you in the grocery line up has her down moments too.
Sometimes we just need a bit of inspiration and suggestion. I can also say from experience being early for everything isn’t always the best thing. Over scheduling your day can be exhausting and sometimes hiring help is a good thing.
Here are 5 tips to make your day a little bit easier and more efficient:
- Make a list of what needs to be done and break it down into individual tasks and activities. Check it off as you finish each item.
- Make school and work lunches the night before. Set out the coffee cups and lunch bags before bed. Simple fill and serve in the morning.
- Start a load of laundry when you get up in the morning and another before you go to bed.
- Set out the next days clothing the night before. No more rushing around trying to figure out what to wear.
- Be grateful..
My biggest tip: BE YOU. If you aren’t totally organized or athletic or lunches aren’t your thing that is fine. Center your day around things that work for you and your family. Make your own five tips, but be grateful.
Gratitude is an amazing thing and if it is the only thing you take away from this post, be grateful for the little things. Being grateful will change your mindset and put a happier spin on things making the days activities easier and more productive.
