First I want to say I love Pinterest and it is a great resource for all things family and life related.
As a blogger Pinterest rocks for driving web traffic and it is amazing for research and idea generation. So why if I love this resource called Pinterest did I delete my pins?
The reason is quite simple really.
I have gotten more creative and more visual in my current pin design and I was finding my original pins were very, very simple and not appealing at all. You live and learn, I blogged and learned that my pins need to be prettier and more appealing. I was also noticing that the pins in my incoming interest feed were always the same just new recycled versions of old pins I had seen already.
I had read an article a while back from SarahTitus.com that she had deleted her pins for her own reasons so I decided to take her advice. It worked wonders and to be honest it was an eye opener in how my creativity as a blogger has changed over time. Sarah you rock thank you so much for the great blog article and your amazing blog.
My first pins, I will call them learning pins are now in the digital recycle bin and I am creating new pins I can be proud of. Pins that are being repinned hundreds of times. I have several that are pinning in the thousands.
What have I changed in my pinning?
I am using prettier more colourful graphics and photos. I have implemented the skills I have learned through various blogging courses and overall I am creating pins that I would click and pin. Not just creating pins to create pins.
Pins need to be bright, colourful, visually appealing descriptions of the linked blog topic.
I also noticed when I went through my Pinterest boards and deleted pins that had less than 10 repins, my incoming interest feed pins changed. I guess deleting pins along with Pinterest algorythm opened the doors to new and interesting pins and articles in my interest feed.
I now receive pins that I haven’t viewed before and pins in new and various subjects arriving in my inbox weekly.
Pinterest is a wonderful thing and I suggest that any blogger or any person should look into creating pins or investing time into Pinterest. As a Mom, as a homeschooler, as a business owner, as a woman I find multiple uses daily for Pinterest.
