My name is Cynthia, I am Wife to a wonderful Man and Mom to an amazingly inquisitive and bright little boy. The three of us together with our Pug dog live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I have a background in Business Administration and Finance. Our journey to Saving and Simplicity started with a yearning for simpler living and a more fulfilling life away from the concrete jungle of the big city. Room to breathe, grass beneath my feet, dirt on my hands, the smell of fresh bread, the sound of laughter… the simple things this is what I longed for.
Like a large number of families our family has gone through income growth and job loss, career changes, family illness and life lessons. Our family saw income change and job loss which made us re-evaluate things. Our lives changed and our goals changed. We wanted to live a life that cultivated joy and didn’t dig us deeper into debt. We tightened our budget re-enrolled in school and set out on a new path.
I started this blog to share our journey to debt free simple living. To share that yes, being debt free is possible and starting your path to debt free living is easier than you think. We paid off a large chunk of our debt even after job loss. It took some budgeting and patience, but if we can do it so can you. I am here to walk this journey with you to offer tips and guidance, to share our personal experiences, failures and successes.
I received the following verse in an email I received today and it seemed fitting to include:
Isaiah 58:11 The Lord will guide you always: He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.
